Contemporary Films

Established in 1951, Contemporary Films houses an archive of documentary films, and also provides feature films to cinemas. The documentaries cover a wide range of subjects, among them: communism, apartheid, the 60's, UK politics, the US Civil Rights struggle, music, the Russian Revolution and the Holocaust. Footage queries can be made via the website or by phone, fax or e-mail. No charges are made for initial research.

Aside from offering clips for feature films and TV, the company also reissues classic films in the cinema, recent examples being Jean Renoir's La Regle du Jeu and Satyajit Ray's debut film Pather Panchali.
