Gants Mill & Garden

A Grade II* listed watermill, farmhouse and garden in its own river valley.

The watermill has the original Victorian grinding machinery, which is in regular use. The building dates mainly from the middle 1700s. A new hydropower scheme has been installed, generating around 10 Kw from a new turbine next to the old one. It is a large building with atmospheric open spaces under the roof. The mill leat goes through a tunnel under a cottage, and into the mill through screens, or down the waterfall into the millpool.

Next to the mill is the stone-built farmhouse, dating from the 1700s, with a Victorian wing. It has 3 B&B rooms, sleeping up to 5.
